Guns N’ Roses Sell 300K Tickets Down Under

The Guns N’ Roses Not In This Lifetime Tour reached 353,000 fans over eight stadium shows in Australia and New Zealand in February, promoter TEG Dainty announced.

A full-capacity of more than 74,000 at the Melbourne Cricket Grounds saw GNR become the first international band to sell out the venue. An aggregate 85,000 were at a two-night stopover in Sydney. 

Five GNR albums returned to the official Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) charts as a result.

Paul Dainty, president and CEO of tour promoter TEG Dainty, said the tour exceeded expectations of crowd size and show quality.

“Guns N’ Roses has a huge fan base in Australia, but I would say it’s now bigger than ever after this fabulous tour,” Dainty remarked. “Every night the band delivered its trademark sound and performance. I can’t speak highly enough of their professionalism and passion. We would love to see them back soon.”

The Not In This Lifetime Tour officially ends in a few months, with the final run through with UK and Europe starting May 27 for 20 stadium dates, and 17 additional shows in North America.

But comments on social media from band members hint that they could be returning to Australia and New Zealand. With AC/DC’s Angus Young joining the band onstage in Sydney and Melbourne, speculation is rife that Young is keen for Axl Rose to record the next AC/DC album after stepping in last year for Brian Johnson, who had hearing issues and was forced to abandon the AC/DC tour.
