New Event By Glastonbury Makers

The team behind the UK’s most famous festival is launching the Variety Bazaar in England at a yet undisclosed location.

There’s not much more information available. Emily Eavis, who runs Glastonbury with her father and festival founder Michael Eavis, sent tweeted: “We’re still planning an event in the future at a different location – which we are calling Variety Bazaar. But Glastonbury Festival will always be called Glastonbury and will remain at Worthy Farm.”

Earlier comments made by Michael Eavis suggested Glastonbury was to move in 2019 under a new name. Emily Eavis’ tweet, however, suggests a sister event will be launched, although she didn’t clarify when. News reports have suggested that Variety Bazaar is going to launch in 2019, based on Michael Eavis’ earlier comments.

Given that Glastonbury is taking a year off in 2018, one would assume that both events will happen in 2019.

However, an article by The Independent suggests that Variety Bazaar will happen whenever Glastonbury takes a year off. “In an official announcement, Glastonbury Festival organizers have made it clear that The Variety Bazaar is a placeholder name when the event isn’t taking place at Worthy Farm,” the paper wrote.

Said “official announcement” has so far eluded Pollstar, and a request for clarification has yet to be answered by Glastonbury’s press team. Sold-out Glastonbury 2017 will take place at Worthy Farm, Somerset, June 21-25, with Radiohead confirmed to headline the Pyramid Stage on Friday, and Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran rumored to fill the other headline slots.
