Record Exec Bob Krasnow Dies

Bob Krasnow, 81, veteran record exec and co-founder of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, died Dec. 11. The cause of death was not revealed.

Krasnow started out doing promotion for James Brown and sales for Decca Records. He was credited with revitalizing Elektra Records when he took over as chairman in 1983 and influencing several other labels including Blue Thumb Records, where he signed Captain Beefheart, Dave Mason, Ike and Tina Turner, The Pointer Sisters, and others.

At Elektra, he brought in Metallica, Björk, and The Cure, to name a few. After leaving Elektra, Krasnow founded Krasnow Entertainment in NYC.
