Former Promoter Convicted Of Rape
Mervyn Conn faces jail after London’s Kingston crown court found him guilty of raping two underage girls in 1976 and 1985 respectively.
Conn, who worked with The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and others in his time, was 82 years old at the time of his conviction.
He’ll be sentenced Oct. 28. His first victim, now 56 years old, was 15 at the time of the crime. She had been employed as a hostess by Conn, and says she gave her correct age. She recounted three separate incidents, in which the former promoter forced himself upon her without her consent. The second victim was 16, when Conn raped her at his London office in 1985.
The court reportedly heard that he lured her in by promising free concert tickets.
