Police say they caught Lewis at a customs checkpoint with a 1.5-liter water bottle containing GHB, a popular rave drug that is also infamous as “the date-rape drug” because of its sedative properties.

The arrest was not announced until Aug. 11, with police telling the Korea Times that they suspect Lewis of smuggling a total of 3.78 liters of GHB into South Korea between January and June.

The drugs have been valued at $340,000, the equivalent of 1,000 doses. The paper says the police also suspect the “head of a Korean pharmaceutical company and his twin brother” paid for Lewis’s trips to South Korea. LA Weekly has “reached out” to Korean authorities and the South Korean consulate in Los Angeles but cannot determine if Lewis is still being held.

The last post on the DJ’s Twitter page was on July 3, when he apologized for missing an event due to “food poisoning.”
