Americana Fest Returns In NZ

While New Zealand’s Americana acts such as Marlon Williams and Tami Neilson work at cracking the U.S. market, the country’s fans are embracing more American acts of the genre.

This is primarily through the Southern Fork Americana Fest, which returns for a third year to the Great South Pacific Tuning Fork at Auckland’s Vector Arena on Oct 7-8, Oct. 12-14 and Oct. 16.

This year’s American contingent includes Texans Robert Ellis, Hayes Carll and Joe Pug, and Minnesota’s The Cactus Blossoms. Canadian award-winning honky tonk performer Lindi Ortega finally makes her NZ debut after having to cancel her appearance at the festival’s inaugural event.

They will be joined by Australia’s Skyscraper Stan and The Commission Flats, Josh Rennie-Hynes, Liam Gerner and New Zealand’s Ravens, Adam McGrath, The Shape I’m In featuring Ebony Lamb, Tom Cunliffe and Hopetoun Brown.
