For Today Announces Farewell Tour

Sioux City, Iowa-based metalcore band For Today broke the news Tuesday that it will soon be calling it quits. The group is saying goodbye to fans with a final tour that runs September to December.

For Today formed in 2005 and released its debut full-length effort, Ekklesia, in 2008. Its sixth and final LP, Wake, was released in 2015.

The current lineup features founding members Ryan Leitru and Brandon Leitru along with Mattie Montgomery and David Puckett.

“When we started this band in 2005, we never imagined that our music would make it out of Sioux City, Iowa, let alone take us all around the world multiple times,” the band said in a joint statement. “Our lives have been hugely impacted by the time we’ve spent making music and touring. We met our wives, had kids and moved to different states because of For Today. It’s been an incredible experience, but we feel like now is the time to close this chapter of our lives and move on. There’s no behind the scenes drama happening or disagreements between band members. We’re all still best friends and will continue to be long after the band is over.”

The farewell tour launches Sept. 14 in Iowa City, Iowa. The band has announced two legs of North American dates, along with a run of South American gigs. European gigs are being planned for Oct. 26 to Nov. 1.
