Ticketmaster Enters Switzerland

Swiss business journal handelsblatt.ch obtained the founding documents, which list a Ticketmaster Switzerland GmbH and designate it as ticketing enterprise. However, the website ticketmaster.ch belongs to Starticket, the country’s second-largest ticketing company behind Eventim’s Ticketcorner.

A representative for Tamedia, which owns Starticket, told 20 Minuten that the company indeed reserved the domain “along with other important URLs” years ago.

“We are one of Switzerland’s leading ticket marketers and maintain long-standing relationships with numerous promoters,” the spokesperson continued, before adding that this was an advantage the new competitor was lacking.

The news site also quotes a spokesperson for Ticketcorner, who said that “Ticketmaster’s market entry did not surprise us. We take note of it and do not plan to take any special measures.”

Ticketmaster did not want to comment on Pollstar’s inquiry.
