Brian Fallon, Ryan Bingham Ready To Ramble

Two leading Americana singer/songwriters have announced a co-headline U.S. tour. Genre stalwart Ryan Bingham is joined by Brian Fallon, of The Gaslight Anthem fame, for 16 dates.

The run kicks off Sept. 6 in Portland, Ore., at the Roseland Theater and extends across the country, closing at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville Oct. 2.

Prior to the tour Bingham has some festival appearances lined up and a few solo shows at the Knitting Factory Concert Houses in Boise, Idaho, and Spokane, Wash., immediately preceding the kickoff. Fallon is decidedly busier, with several weeks of basically uninterrupted touring in late June and early July, followed by some time on the European festival circuit.

Bingham has built a strong resume, with Grammy, Academy and Americana Artist of the Year awards to his name. Soulful vocals and poignant lyrics are Bingham’s trademarks, and he draws from a deep well of life experience for these, as both of his parents died while he was young, his mother by drinking herself to death and his father by suicide.

Some of his work, such as his 2012 project Tomorrowland, is notably bleak, but his most recent album, 2015’s Fear and Saturday Night, features a more hopeful outlook on life, as he is now married and recently had his first child.

Fallon released his first solo album this year, Painkillers, and a lot of Gaslight Anthem fans seem to have taken to his new work, which is less rock-based, but still preserves a lot of the musicality which made him famous.
