Rock Am Ring Canceled
Rock am Ring was temporarily suspended and resumed again on Saturday, in time for the Red Hot Chili Peppers to take the stage. However, Marek Lieberberg told Pollstar that he wasn’t able to secure the permit for Sunday, June 5.
Audibly concerned, the promoter said that force majeure was at play and emphasized how frustrating it was, not to be able to predict the weather. After all, the skies could clear up and give way to sunshine at any time.
But with 81 people already injured and hospitalized – one still in critical condition – a permit for the last festival day wasn’t granted. Lieberberg stressed how understanding and cooperative the fans reacted.
He added that it was the gravest situation in the festival’s 32-year history, and that everything was being done to ensure the fans’ safe and smooth departure.
