Daddy Yankee, Don Omar Confirm U.S. Tour Still On
The pair kicked off the two-year tour together Dec. 5 in both men’s native Puerto Rico. Today a few U.S. dates were announced via press release to confirm the tour is still on and to address rumors of tensions between the two reggaetoneros.
Recently the artists c in Las Vegas May 6 and some fans were upset when the Don did not perform alongside Daddy Yankee, which some perceived as an act of disrespect.
Don Omar took to the airwaves to dispel confusion: he said in an interview with Mega 97.9 that the incident in Las Vegas was due to production issues and was not intended as a slight.
The two have historically had their differences, as they have taken shots at each other on records in the past and acknowledged that they are not close friends. The tour embraces this competitive history, creating a “duel” type environment where the two artists go back and forth with songs to see who can get the crowd more energized.
