Yet Another Arena To Vegas
Move over MGM Grand Garden Arena, T-Mobile Arena, The Joint, The Colosseum, the Thomas & Mack Center and developing projects: apparently Las Vegas is big enough for even one more large space with the announcement that MSG/Las Vegas Sands / Live Nation and Azoff Madison Square Garden Entertainment plan to build a 17,500-seat arena in Sin City.
The project, which will be built on Sands property, also involves the Irving/Tim Leiweke project known as the Oak View Group.
The arena is expected to be dedicated to music, following the model MSG created for The Forum in Los Angeles. That venue, which leapt onto the scene with several big shows, has since blended into the landscape of Los Angeles, providing music alongside the major tours that still arrive at the Staples Center, such as Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Adele and the recent farewell performance of Mötley Crüe.
Madison Square Garden stock remained flat at opening bell May 25.
