ACM’s Bob Romeo Steps Down
Neither Romeo nor ACM gave a reason for his decision to resign, which was effective May 13, or what he will do next. He served as CEO for 12 years, after years as board chair and member. Romeo told the Tennessean that his work with the academy “has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career in the music business.
“We’ve accomplished more than I could have ever dreamed,” he said in a statement. “The organization is recognized as a leader in the business and that was my main goal when I joined the company. There is so much pride in how far we have moved the puck.”
Romeo got his start in his father’s business, the Don Romeo Agency, later known as Romeo Entertainment Group, where he promoted the careers of Kenny Chesney and other stars.
He won two ACM Awards for talent buyer/promoter of the year and a CMA Talent buyer/SRO award.
“We are thankful for Bob’s leadership and dedication to the organization, and wish him the best in the next phase of his career,” ACM board chair Paul Barnabee said in the statement.
