Train Takes ‘Led Zeppelin II’ On Tour
The idea to re-record 1969’s Led Zeppelin II came about after Train played the album from start to finish on this year’s Sail Across the Sun cruise.
Train’s edition – Does Led Zepplein II – is due out June 3 on Crush Music in association with Atlantic Records on CD, limited edition vinyl, digital download and streaming services.
“Our favorite band is Led Zeppelin, and they made a huge impression on our lives musically,” Pat Monahan said. “So I thought, why don’t we record one of their albums, just for the fun of it for our fans. The hard part was deciding which one.”
He added, “They are so hard to record, especially when you are trying to get as close a version as you can to the original. The mixes, the time that they put in, it’s crazy how great they were as a band. They were virtuosos at what they did.”
Here’s the plan for the tour:
June 1 – New York, N.Y., Irving Plaza
June 2 – Hunter, N.Y., Hunter Mountain (Mountain Jam Festival)
June 6 – West Hollywood, Calif., Troubadour
June 8 – Seattle, Wash., Neumos
June 14 – San Francisco, Calif., Great American Music Hall
Tune in to Howard Stern’s radio show June 1 and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” June 10 to check out Train ramble through a tune or two.
Does Led Zeppelin II is available for pre-order via Apple Music, Amazon and Google Play. Train is donating 100 percent of proceeds to Family House. The San Francisco-based non-profit provides temporary housing for families of ill children receiving treatment at the University of California San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Tickets for Mountain Jam are on sale. The rest of the dates go on sale May 13. Click here for more information.
