Alexander Jean Hits The Road
It seems like such a long time ago that the duo of Mark Ballas and BC Jean posted a music video under the moniker Alexander Jean without any more information. Pollstar was likely the first to interview the couple after they revealed themselves – to outsiders like us, that is. To be fair, the song, “Roses and Violets,” had already been played on “Duck Dynasty.” Meanwhile, it was clear that a lot of people knew who they were because, heck, when the song is co-written by the same guy who co-wrote “Wrecking Ball,” word gets around.
Also, when you’re one of the more well-known performers on “Dancing With The Stars” (Ballard) and co-write a No. 1 hit, “If I Were A Boy,” for Beyoncé (Jean), it really can’t be much of a secret, can it?
At the time, they didn’t have an agency but Jean was looking forward to “getting onstage and doing that in a lot of cities.” Since then, they have done a SXSW showcase and have released “Thief” as a single. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-JolWNQmXY. They play the third annual Los Angeles Grammy Showcase at The Fonda Theatre May 17.
Alexander Jean’s first national U.S. tour kicks off June 17 in Santa Ana, Calif. – two weeks after the June 3 release of their debut EP, Head High. The EP and tour both take their name from the first song Mark and BC wrote together. The duo travels all the way to the East Coast and back again before wrapping at Regent Theatre in Los Angeles July 23.
