The Violent Femmes’ Tour Just Got Longer

July is no longer a big empty spot on the Violent Femmes’ schedule as the band fills up the calendar with headlining dates and festival gigs, including a performance at the famed .

The punk/folk band that rose out of Milwaukee, Wis., is playing the Newport Folk Festival July 22, appearing on a lineup that includes Ray LaMontagne, Matthew Logan Vasquez, The Arcs, and the Neko Case, k.d. lang, Laura Veirs collaboration that’s simplycalled case/lang/veirs.  Other festivals on the agenda include Wichita’s and Milwaukee’s .

The tour is in support of We Can Do Anything – released in March on PIAS.  The band debuted the video for the long player’s first single, “Yesterday,” on Record Store Day.  The vid was created and animated by Harley Hefford, the brains behind the Violent Femme’s 2015 “Good For / At Nothing” video.
