Roger Daltrey Says Mega-Festival Is On
The L.A. Times reported last week that the fest is being organized by Goldenvoice, the promoter behind Coachella. The plan is to host the extravaganza on Coachella’s festival grounds – the Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif. – Oct. 7-9, with Dylan and the Stones performing Friday, McCartney and Young on Saturday, and The Who and Waters on Sunday.
In addition to getting a quote from Young’s longtime manager, Elliot Roberts, saying that he’s looking forward to the show, the Times referenced information from sources “that could not speak publically because negotiations with the performers were being finalized.”
And now Daltrey is talking.
“What a great weekend it will be,” Daltrey told BBC 6 Music. “They’re all going to be there, on the one spot, at the one time.”
He added, “I don’t think any of us cares who goes on first. We’ve never worried about that. The music is all so different, that’s not going to matter at all.”
Daltrey also chatted about the festival with Postmedia Network.
“I think it’s us and Roger Waters on the same day,” Daltrey said (via Toronto Sun). “I mean it’s a fantastic idea for a festival. It’s the greatest remains of our era. I’m glad we made it!”
As for ticketing information, we’re still waiting on details to be announced. The Times reported April 15 that an official announced about the festival was “expected in coming weeks.” Daltrey expressed what we’re all thinking – tickets are going to go fast.
“It’s a great idea,” Daltrey said. “I just hope a lot of normal fans can get tickets before they get snatched up.”
