Resident Evil … LIVE??
“Resident Evil,” which was first launched as a video game in 1996, has already spawned a movie series. The stage production is being written by a local playwright who goes by the name G2, who also wrote the Japanese version of “My Fair Lady.”
Veteran Capcom producer Hiroshi Kobayashi will oversee the entire adaptation.
In addition to the musical and the movie franschises, both animated and live action, “Resident Evil” is also an attraction at Universal Studios Japan, where it comes in the form of a haunted house.
There is even a “Resident Evil Burrito,” a T-Virus fragrance (referring to the zombie-producing virus central to the story), and similar products that can be found at the Capcom Cafe in Saitama, a city just north of Tokyo.
The musical will eventually be augmented by a touring concert series called “Capcom Live! Rockestral,” which will feature an orchestra performing songs associated with the series.
