Guns N’ Roses Playing Whisky A Go-Go?

Usually cancellations aren’t something to be celebrated, but Guns N’ Roses fans are hoping that there’s a silver lining behind Steven Adler’s Whisky A Go-Go gig being called off. Could GNR be playing the 500-capacity club? And does this mean Adler is involved in the classic reunion tour?

In January Guns N’ Roses broke the news that Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan were set to reunite at Cochella, marking their first performance together since 1993. While Axl has fronted the band since 1985, Slash and McKagan left the lineup a few years after the release of The Spaghetti Incident.

In addition to its appearances at Coachella, Guns N’ Roses has signed on for two nights in Las Vegas and two gigs in Mexico City.

Adler was GNR’s drummer from 1985 to 1990. His band – simply known as Adler – was supposed to play West Hollywood’s Whisky A Go-Go April 1. The Sunset Strip venue announced the cancellation on social media Monday afternoon (via NME) and promised that more news was to come: “The Steven Adler show on 4/1 has been canceled. Stay tuned for a big announcement! #GunsNRoses”

Whisky A Go-Go posted this image on Facebook and Twitter March 21.

Alternative Nation points out that Whisky A Go-Go posted a hint on Instagram about a GNR appearance a few weeks ago with a vintage photo of Axl along with the hashtags #thewhiskyagogo #whiskyagogo #axlrose #gunsnroses #gnr #welcometothejungle #happysaturday.

Plus, radio personality Eddie Trunk told listeners earlier this month he would be attending the Vegas gigs and “maybe a special event somewhere before the first night.” In January Trunk reported that his sources said “current GNR drummer Frank Ferrer will be retained and play the bulk of the [reunion], with perhaps a guest appearance from Steven Adler if a deal can be worked out.”

An intimate show at the Whisky could be the perfect warm-up for GNR’s April 8-9 shows at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena. Guess we’ll have to stay tuned!
