Violent Soho, the No. 1 band in Australia right now, is part of Gudinski’s Mushroom Group label.
The first six-part season of The State of Music, the livestreaming festival curated by Michael Gudinski’s Mushroom Group during COVID-19 restrictions, generated almost 2 million streams. It was funded by the state government of Victoria and streamed on the Victoria Together YouTube, Facebook and website.
The sixth episode, which streamed on June 5, featured The Cat Empire at the Forum, DMAs, Violent Soho, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever with singer songwriter Stella Donnelly on the hallowed Melbourne Cricket Ground, The Temper Trap with members of The Australian Children’s Choir, a country music collaboration by The McClymonts, Casey Barnes and Brad Cox, and ’90s band Frente with newsinger songwriters Aliec Skye, Allara, Olympia and Katy Steele.
Previous episodes also included performances from The Rubens, Paul Kelly, Kate Miller-Heidke, Missy Higgins, Diesel, Birds of Tokyo and many others.
Gudinksi was recently the subject of a major feature in Pollstar which explored the 50 year history of Mushroom Group and what lies ahead. Gudinski and longtime competitor Michael Chugg announced a joint-venture agreement in 2019.
