Post Malone’s ascent to No. 1 on LIVE75 as this week’s HOT SHOT touring artist comes as the first box office results are reported from the 2020 leg of his “Runaway Tour.” The singer/rapper scored an average ticket count of 13,870 from five sold-out shows in four major North American markets to grab the top ranking. Sellouts at arenas in Chicago, Toronto, Montreal and two in the New York City area earned the “Runaway Tour” $8.7 million based on sold tickets totaling 69,351 during the early days of the 2020 trek.
Currently he is booked stateside through May 15 and will kick off a European leg one month later. During the tour’s opening string of North American dates last fall, 35 concerts were reported to Pollstar showing almost half-a-million tickets were sold in 30 arenas for a gross of $57 million.
The Eagles fall to the second position on the chart after debuting at No. 1 last week with sales counts from three shows in Atlanta, the first stop on the band’s “Hotel California” tour. For this LIVE75 tally, a second three-show stint is added to the mix – a sold-out engagement at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Feb. 14-15 & 18. The group’s six-show ticket average is 13,405, which lands them just 465 tickets behind Post Malone, yet they are the chart’s HEAVY HITTER for a second week with nearly a $3.3 million gross average.
Making a BREAKTHROUGH this week is English artist Rex Orange County who scores a 99% sellout average from 13 recent shows in North American venues. Only one of them – Montreal’s MTELUS – logged ticket sales less than 100% capacity, but with 2,296 of 2,330 sold, the performing arts center still moved 99% of its available tickets.
