Eagles Lead LIVE75 As Hot Shot & Heavy Hitter
Eagles are back on the road in U.S. markets this year after kicking off the 2020 “Hotel California Tour” with a three-night opener at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena earlier this month. Box office results from the sold-out engagement earn the legendary rockers this week’s No. 1 ranking on the LIVE75 as well as the HOT SHOT title for the highest chart debut and also HEAVY HITTER with the highest gross average. The Atlanta arena hosted the tour on Feb. 7-8 and 11 and reported gross sales of more than $8.8 million from 39,375 sold tickets, an average of 13,125 per concert.
With the group performing the iconic 1976 album in its entirety on this tour, the 11-week jaunt stateside will include multiple performances at arenas in nine American cities through April 26 followed by a May event in Los Cabos, Mexico and two nights in August at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Last fall, the Eagles appeared at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas for a three-show stint that grossed over $18.5 million for a single engagement. It was the highest-grossing arena event of the year worldwide and third highest overall among concert grosses ranked in Pollstar’s Year-End issue. Only The Rolling Stones scored higher with stadium events in the New York City and Chicago markets.
Stand-up comedian Bert Kreischer returns to LIVE75, again scoring BREAKTHROUGH status after appearing on the chart with the same designation six times in 2019. He ranks 30th on the chart this week based on six sold-out performances set in U.S. theaters. Promoted by Outback Presents, his tour averaged 2,028 tickets per show at theaters in Vermont, New York, Ohio and California. – Bob Allen s
