Janet Jackson announced Monday that she’ll return to the road this summer with the “Black Diamond World Tour.”
The iconic pop star, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, will play more than 30 arena shows throughout North America from June to August, beginning at Miami’s American Airlines Arena on June 24 and concluding at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Wash., on Aug. 23.
She’ll play plenty of major arenas, including Atlanta’s State Farm Arena (June 29), New York’s Madison Square Garden (July 14), Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena (July 24) and Los Angeles’ Staples Center (Aug. 12).
Jackson will also hit festivals such as New Orleans’ Essence Festival (July 3) and Cincinnati’s Cincinnati Music Festival (July 25).
Produced by Live Nation, the tour promises “a special performance of Rhythm Nation,” her beloved 1989 album, as well as new music from Jackson’s forthcoming album Black Diamond, due later this year.
In 2019, Jackson’s focus was her first Las Vegas residency, “Metamorphosis,” which sold 76,813 tickets and grossed $13 million over 18 shows from May to August. Jackson also headlined San Francisco’s Chase Center in its debut month, selling 12,613 tickets and grossing $1.59 million on Sept. 21, before heading overseas for a brief Australian tour and three November dates at Honolulu’s Neal S. Blaisdell Arena.
In 2017, Jackson ranked No. 62 on Pollstar‘s Year End Top 100 Worldwide Tours chart with a gross of $33.4 million. This summer, she’ll play several of the arenas she headlined that year, including Washington, D.C.’s Capital One Arena, where she moved 11,581 tickets and grossed $1.18 million, and Newark, N.J.’s Prudential Center, where she sold 12,245 tickets and grossed $1.03 million.
Jackson signed with Paradigm Talent Agency in November 2018.
