Andrea Bocelli Arrives On LIVE75 As Heavy Hitter & Hot Shot
Roberto Ricciuti / Redferns – Andrea Bocelli
plays The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland, Oct. 20.
Andrea Bocelli enters the LIVE75 chart with a HOT SHOT debut at No. 5 based on box office success from four performances in three American cities. MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, San Diego’s Pechanga Arena and Madison Square Garden in New York City each hosted the renowned Italian tenor during December, averaging 12,830 sold tickets per concert. With an average take of $2.5 million, he also claims the HEAVY HITTER status on the chart with the highest gross average of the week. Bocelli sang in Las Vegas and San Diego on Dec. 7 and 8, respectively, and in New York on the 18th and 19th.
Also making a new entrance in the top 10 is Cher who ranks sixth with 11 sellouts in 10 markets during the second North American leg of her “Here We Go Again” tour. The Live Nation-produced trek drew 134,132 fans to these 11 concerts, averaging 12,193 tickets per show.
Musiq Soulchild also debuts on the chart, taking the No. 69 ranking as the BREAKTHROUGH artist based on a 99% sellout average from 12 shows at four clubs – each a City Winery venue. He played clubs in six cites during a fall jaunt and earns his ranking from multiple-show dates in Chicago, Atlanta, Washington and Boston.
Making some noise this week is singer-songwriter Omar Apollo at No. 51, jumping 11 positions with ticket sales reported from both U.K. and U.S. venues. The Indiana native toured both continents last fall in support of his EP Friends that dropped earlier in 2019. He averaged 898 sold tickets from three shows at London’s Heaven, Boston’s Paradise Rock Club and the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.
