Stevie Nicks, Dead & Company, Lizzo, Black Crowes, More Top Jazz Fest 2020

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival announced a predictably stacked lineup for its 2020 iteration, slated for April 23-May 3, on Thursday.

The event’s bill is topped by The Who, Dead & Company, Stevie Nicks, Foo Fighters, Lizzo, Lionel Richie, The Lumineers and the reformed Black Crowes.

The most recent of the group to headline Jazz Fest is Richie, who appeared at the top of the bill in 2018.

Dead & Company and Nicks – with Fleetwood Mac – both appeared on Pollstar‘s Top 100 Worldwide Tours chart in 2019, with grosses of $68.6 million and $112.2 million, respectively.

Nicks was recently announced as a headliner for BottleRock Napa Valley in May, and New York’s Governors Ball shared Thursday that she would headline its 2020 event. Meanwhile, Lizzo has been confirmed as a headliner for Tennessee’s Bonnaroo in June; in April, Foo Fighters will headline Something in the Water in Virginia Beach, Va., and the following month the band will top the bill at Boston Calling.

Other prominent artists abound on the 2020 Jazz Fest lineup, including country (Brandi Carlile, The Avett Brothers), classic rock (The Beach Boys), blues (Buddy Guy, Charlie Musselwhite), soul (Aaron Neville, The Isley Brothers), jazz (Chick Corea: Vigilette), jam (Galactic, Dumpstaphunk), Latin trap (Nicky Jam), hip-hop (Wu-Tang Clan featuring The Soul Rebels), reggae (Jimmy Cliff), pop (Maggie Rogers) and indie rock (Jenny Lewis, Brittany Howard).

Additional noteworthy bookings include Lenny Kravitz, Norah Jones, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Erykah Badu, H.E.R., The Revivalists, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Of Monsters and Men, John Prine, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Big Freedia and more.

The festival will also honor its roots in the Big Easy, with bookings including Preservation Hall Jazz Band and a tribute to revered New Orleans musician Dr. John, who died in June 2019.

Nicks’ booking conjures memories of Jazz Fest’s fraught 2019 event. Fleetwood Mac pulled out of its Jazz Fest headlining slot due to Nicks’ illness; the band had been booked as a replacement for The Rolling Stones, which had cancelled its own Jazz Fest headlining spot after frontman Mick Jagger underwent heart surgery. Widespread Panic ultimately filled the slot.

Several ticket options are available for the event. Once again, fans can buy single-day tickets for any of the fest’s eight days, which take place April 23-26 and April 30-May 3. Single-day tickets begin at $70 for Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and $80 for Saturdays, with prices rising incrementally in the coming weeks. Fans can also purchase four-day weekend passes to either weekend for $255 until Jan. 28. Multiple VIP options are also available.
