BREAKING: Charlie Jones Departs C3 Presents
– Charlie Jones
Charlie Jones, a co-founder and principal owner of C3 Presents, has left the company in pursuit of “other interests,” Pollstar can confirm. The news was first reported by Crain’s Chicago Business, the business trade of record in the city that made Lollapalooza a household name.
“Charlie Jones has chosen to pursue other interests and we support him that decision,” co-owner Charlie Walker said in a statement to Pollstar. “We will miss his day-to-day presence, but he will continue to assist us as needed. We wish him great success in his next endeavors.”
Jones, known as one of the “Three Charlies,” and obviously one of the C’s in C3, formed the company with Walker and Charles Attal in 2007 in Austin, Texas. Jones came to C3 Presents from Capital Sports & Entertainment.
The company entered a partnership with Live Nation in 2014, having steered a successful Lollapalooza in Chicago and expanded Austin City Limits Music Festival into major destination events.
C3 promotes more than 1,700 concerts annually in arenas, festivals, theaters, casinos and clubs across the country, as well as programming more than 1,200 events annually for its casino clients. C3 Management represents artists across a range of genres including Modest Mouse, Rebelution, Jon Pardi, Phoenix, The Strokes, The Head And The Heart, The Revivalists, Gramatic, In This Moment, My Bloody Valentine, and Lindsey Buckingham.
C3 Presents ranked No. 29 on Pollstar’s 2019 Year End Top 100 Promoters chart, based on Worldwide Ticket Sales, with 898,648 tickets sold and $38,262,464 grossed.
The news of Jones’ departure will have no impact on the upcoming keynote session at Pollstar Live, “The Power of Three: How C3’s three Cs Changed the Way We Present Live Events,” featuring Charles Attal, Charlie Walker and Charlie Jones and moderated by OVG President of Media & Conferences Ray Waddell.
