Walter Kolm Founds Independent Record Label
Walter Kolm – manager of Carlos Vives, Maluma, Wisin of Wisin & Yandel, CNCO and Silvestre Dangond and founder of Walter Kolm Entertainment – has started WK Records, a new record label being distributed by The Orchard.
In addition to Kolm, WK Records will be led by attorney Oscar Guitian Jr., who has been named general manager. The label’s first signees are Alex Rose, Seven Kayne and Cheo Gallego.
“I’ve always believed that music has the power to transform lives,” Kolm said in a statement. “This only motivates us so that WK Records becomes a platform where artists receive the necessary security and well-being, allowing them to focus on the creation of their art and strengthening the ties that bind them to their fans.”
This is not Kolm’s first foray into the label world, as he was the original founder of Radio Tripoli and was previously president of Universal Music Latino. He is a major figure in the Latin music world, as clients like Maluma are capable of grossing more than $1 million dollars a night, as he did in Rosemont, Ill.’s Allstate Arena, ($1.1 million) and Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena ($1.3 million) last year. Carlos Vives also grossed $1.13 million at AmericanAirlines Arena in 2018, off 10,240 tickets sold. Those shows were all promoted by Cardenas Marketing Network.
