Megadeth And Lamb Of God Announce Second Leg Of ‘The Metal Tour Of The Year’

Megadeth and Lamb of God announce tour dates for the second leg of their “Metal Tour of the Year”

Following the success found in Megadeth and Lamb Of God’s 2021 co-headlining tour through the United States, the two have announced the second leg of their “Metal Tour of the Year” featuring special guests Trivium and In Flames.

Scheduled to kick off on Apr. 9 in Las Vegas and wraps up on May 15 in Allentown, Penn. Produced by Live Nation, The 23-date trek includes stops in Grand Rapids, Minn., Nashville, Pittsburgh, and more. 

“The ‘Metal Tour Of The Year’ is exactly what it sounds like – a night of some of the best heavy metal bands in the world – live and loud,” Megadeth’s frontman, Dave Mustaine, said in a statement. “Anyone who came to a show last year knows what I mean, only this one’s going to be even better. Do not miss out.”

Megadeth and Lamb Of God’s “Metal Tour of the Year” had initially planned to take place in 2020, but was postponed due to COVID-19. Trivium and Hate Breed joined the two bands for the first leg of the tour, with 172,000 metal fans joining in for the first 29-date trek

“It was great to get out on the road for an incredible tour last summer with Megadeth, Trivium and Hatebreed so we figured we’d do it again!” Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe said in a statement. “We look forward to hitting new cities with Megadeth, Trivium and In Flames, who we’re happy to have over for leg 2!”

Megadeth and Lamb Of God’s Sept. 26 date at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights, Mo. saw 100% capacity and grossed over $235,000, while their sold-out show at Minneapolis’ Armory grossed more than $355,000, according to reports submitted to Pollstar‘s Boxoffice.

“The ‘Metal Tour of The Year’ was one of the strongest, most incredible Metal tours in ages – its namesake nothing but accurate. How do you follow that up? By doing it again – even bigger, even better, and have it play everwhere it didn’t on the first leg,” Trivium’s Matthew Kiichi Heafy said in a statement.

Tickets for the second leg of the tour will go on sale starting 10 a.m. local time on Jan. 14 at MetalTourOfTheYear.com. Ticket holders will also be able to receive their ticket stubs as digital, collectible NFTs as part of Live Nation’s Live Stubs initiative. Fans will be able to view, share, trade and resell their live stubs via Livenation.com. The collector’s items will not replace the digital tickets required to physically enter the show.
