BeachLife Festival 2022 Topped By Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, Steve Miller Band May 13-15

The Los Angeles-area BeachLife Festival has announced a full lineup for May 13-15, topped by Weezer, The Smashing Pumpkins and the Steve Miller Band and featuring many other hit makers, festival staples, ‘90s favorites and classic rockers that the event has become known for in its three years of existence in the Santa Monica Bay region.

Other artists on the lineup include 311, Vance Joy, Sheryl Crow, Black Pumas, Stone Temple Pilots, Lord Huron and still many others, while the event features culinary experiences from local chefs, a Speakeasy Stage curated by Pennywise’s Jim Lindberg, popup art gallery and more.
“Especially during these dynamic and uncertain times, BeachLife Festival has become something that the beach community can look forward to, breathe easy, and smile,” said BeachLife co-founder / producer Allen Sanford, who also operates the popular Saint Rocke club in nearby Hermosa Beach. “Watching the greatest bands in the world with the ocean breeze of the Pacific and the sunset at our back is something that we never get tired of, and we look forward to sharing that experience again to a sold-out but spaced out audience.” Sanford co-founded the event with partners Rob Lissner and Lindberg, with the concept of a boutique, comfortable festival experience right on the waterfront. 
The 2021 event took place in September rather than the previous May, headlined by Jane’s Addiction, Counting Crows and the Music of Bob Marley featuring Ziggy and Stephen Marley and more. With just under 10,000 fans onsite and taking place in Los Angeles County, the event was able to allow guests to choose whether to wear masks, after showing proof of vaccination or negative test.  Sanford told Pollstar that there could be two BeachLife events at the site in 2022. 
SpeakEasy Stage curator Jim Lindberg added, “The Jack Daniel’s SpeakEasy Stage was such a huge success that of course we have to bring it back this year. This time out we have our good friend the legendary Art Alexakis of Everclear, prolific punk rock singer/songwriter Joey Cape of Lagwagon, Yotam Ben Horin of Useless ID, Dan Kelly from Fortunate Youth and Moi Juarez from Tomorrows Bad Seeds, among many more. Just like last year, the Jack Daniel’s SpeakEasy is going to be the place to be all weekend – just keep it in the family!”
The inaugural lineup in 2019 featured Bob Weir and Wolf Bros, Brian Wilson, and Willie Nelson as headliners, with a ‘90s-heavy lineup also featuring Everclear, Sugar Ray (who are set to perform a third consecutive time this May), Blues Traveler, and more. 
“The smaller festivals, the towns really love them,” High Road Touring’s Matt Hickey, whose clients include Portugal. The Man, told Pollstar after BeachLife 2021. “You can take that BeachLife Festival and put it in any town in America and it would do well – that setup, the location, that kind of manageable footprint. They’ve obviously figured it out. I hope, as an agent, you see more cities embrace these kinds of events.” 
BeachLife has a lease for 10 years at the city’s beachfront, with Sanford saying the plan is to put on two events there next year.
