Tenacious D will hit the road next summer for a belated celebration of their 2001 self-titled debut. Kicking off at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado and wrapping up at San Diego’s Cal Coast Credit Union Amphitheater, the tour will see Puddles Pity Party joining along for most of Tenacious D’s headlining shows.

The duo, comprised of Jack Black and Kyle Gass, had aimed to tour North America in fall 2020, but the band’s tour dates were scrapped due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Launched in conjunction with the organization 46 for 46, “The Purple Nurple Tour – Twisting Hard To The Left!” was to play several crucial swing states ahead of the Nov. 3 U.S. presidential election.

Ahead of their planned North American tour, the band managed to perform a few shows in Europe in February 2020, making stops in Brussels, Milan, Vienna, Dublin and more.

In October, Tenacious D released a Super Power Party Pack edition of their debut album, which also featured a reissue of their original 1995 demo cassette and 2002 Tribute EP. The duo’s most recent release, a combined cover of the Beatles’ “You Never Give Me Your Money” and “The End,” arrived in July. Earlier this year, Black teased that the band is currently working on its next album – and predicted it will be released sometime in 2024.

Tenacious D’s most recent North American tour took place in 2019, and included a sold-out two-night run at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul, Minn., that grossed a total of $273,008, according to reports submitted to Pollstar‘s Boxoffice. In December 2018, the band’s sold-out two-night outing at the Fox Theater in Oakland, Calif., grossed a total of $330,030. Tenacious D’s top-grossing U.S. outing remains a sold-out December 2006 show at New York’s Madison Square Garden that moved 11,945 tickets and grossed $421,945.

Puddles Pity Party, meanwhile, grossed $31,416 for his headline show at The Waterfront at Harrah’s Atlantic City on Nov. 2, 2019, according to reports submitted to Pollstar‘s Boxoffice.
