The destination events keep coming from Pollen Presents, with the latest being a partnership with Kygo’s Palm Tree Crew for a Cabo San Lucas getaway Dec. 2-6.
The Palm Tree Music Festival Getaway is appropriately curated by Kygo’s Palm Tree Crew, and set to feature special guest Macklemore as well as Sam Feldt, Nora En Pure, Gryffin (DJ set), recent Pollstar cover subject and DJ duo Sofi Tukker (DJ set), Frank Walker, NoMBe and many others. Promised as part of the experience are pool parties, beachside performances, morning yoga with Jesse Israel and Kygo performing an acoustic set, club nights, volleyball and more.
The primary setting for the event is at ME Cabo, where many of the events will be hosted. Guests can also choose from a variety of other hotel and ultra-luxury villa options while purchasing packages. Ticket packages go on sale Thursday, Sept. 23, with upgrades and VIP options galore.
Pollen has made noise in recent months, announcing destination events for high-profile artists including Deadmau5, Justin Bieber, J Balvin and others, in markets including Miami and Las Vegas, furthering the trend of providing a curated, unique live experience.
The Kygo announcement follows the Palm Tree Music Festival at the Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton, N.Y., which took place Aug. 29 featuring Kygo, Zedd, Gryffin, Frank Walker and Forester. This follows high-profile plays for the Norwegian DJ including a sold-out Red Rocks show, a Banc of California Stadium gig in Los Angeles and another stadium gig in his native Norway.
The artist and his team have been aggressive in finding ways to play amid the ongoing pandemic.
“With Kygo, there were a lot of things we were looking at for next year,” WME’s Cristina Baxter told Pollstar for a recent feature. “The [Banc of California] stadium was something we had planned on doing next May. As soon as we got that glimmer of light, I called (Live Nation’s) Rich Best and said let’s get a date in September, let’s do it. Kygo was ready to get back out there. The Red Rocks show – Red Rocks being such a special venue and a really important one to Kygo – was something we were looking at doing next year. I called Eric Pirritt and said if the date becomes available just let me know. It was late May and he called me, he said I have June 24. Without hesitating I said we’ll take it (laughs). I called the manager, Myles, called Kyrre (Kygo) and within a couple days we had a confirmed show that went on sale, I think, three weeks before the show and obviously sold out in minutes.
“It ended up being such an incredible night. I was there. It was a really emotional night, obviously for Kygo and everyone who made the show happen, but also for the audience, too. For a lot of them it was the first time seeing their friends in person in 15 months.”
