NITO Launches Charity Auction With Instruments From Jack Johnson, Bonnie Raitt, Leon Bridges, Many More

NITO announced a Guitar and Stringed Instrument Auction featuring several major artists on Thursday.

The National Independent Talent Organization (NITO), which comprises more than 1,000 independent talent agencies, management firms and other live touring professionals, announced a massive auction of guitars and stringed instruments on Thursday.

The lineup of artists who contributed instruments spans generations and genres, from rock icons (Graham Nash, John Mellencamp) to indie-rockers of yesteryear (Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis) to six-string virtuosos (Joe Satriani, Kurt Steve Vai) to ’00s alt-rockers (Fall Out Boy, OK Go) to contemporary favorites (Kurt Vile, The War On Drugs).

Other participating artists include Jack Johnson, Lars Ulrich, Bonnie Raitt, Leon Bridges, Steve Martin, Nathaniel Rateliff, Weezer, Mark Knopfler, Tommy Lee, Pat Metheny, George Benson, David Bromberg, Mike Doughty, Steve Forbert, Tom Higgenson (Plain White T’s), Will Kimbrough, Sonny Landreth, Nick Lowe, Jim Miller, Tim O’Brien, John Petrucci, Bill Reynolds, Chris Smither, Los Straitjackets.

Many of the instruments, which include Martin’s banjo, Mascis’ Fender Squier Jazzmaster, Satriani’s Ibanez and more, are signed.

NITO is staging the event, which will run from December 3 to 13, in conjunction with auction site Charitybuzz.

“These good people are an essential part of our local and international community,” Satriani said in a statement. “Without them the live music scene will collapse. The current pandemic is mercilessly putting our collective health and livelihoods in great jeopardy. NITO can make our voices heard in Congress and Washington. Please join me in lending your support.”
