The San Francisco Bay Area is famous for a lot of things – its street fairs, literary and foodie scenes and its abundance of pro sports teams and venues that all host concerts, including stadiums
like San Francisco’s Oracle Park, Oakland’s RingCenter Coliseum and Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium, as well as arenas including San Francisco’s Chase Center, the Oakland Arena and San Jose’s SAP Center.
While Oakland suffered the loss of two major tenants in recent years – the NBA’s Golden State Warriors to San Francisco and the NFL’s Raiders to Las Vegas – it remains a more than viable concert draw. The Warriors may have moved to the new, 18,064-capacity Chase Center on San Francisco’s spectacular waterfront in 2018 but Oakland Arena, with its 19,200 capacity, remains a strong draw.
Next door, the 63,132-capacity RingCentral Coliseum hosted two sold-out Los Bukis shows Oct. 1-2. Los Bukis, on its “Una Historia Cantada Tour,” moved 82,053 tickets for a single-event gross of $13,182,22 – proving not just the strength of the Coliseum as a performance venue, but the strength of the region’s Latin market as well.
With major airports in San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose, the area is accessible to travelers making the region a destination.
Chase Center is especially well-positioned, at the base of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and with easy access from the regional airports. The venue scored one of the biggest shows of the year, with the Eagles bringing their “Hotel California” outing to town Oct. 22-23, selling 23,406 tickets for a total gross of $6,332,596 reported to Pollstar.

The robust Bay Area market includes several amphitheaters, such as Concord Pavilion, the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, Mountain Amphitheatre in Saratoga and Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, which topped the list in 2021 with Maroon 5 playing for 20,580 fans Oct. 7 for a gross of $1,073,337 (before selling 11,255 tickets and grossing $894,195 the next day at Concord Pavilion).
