Krewella
The trio formed in Chicago in 2007 but its debut album, Get Wet, dropped in September, following the 2012 EP Play Hard. Meanwhile, Krewella has raised its profile from playing support to EDM artists like Benny Benassi and Zeds Dead to selling out 2,000-capacity venues like The Pageant in St. Louis and Fox Theatre in Pomona, Calif. And with ticket prices in the $30-to-$60 range, the gross is nothing short of impressive.
“Krewella’s passion and hard work for their craft are exemplified in their compelling live shows,” agent Matthew Rodriguez told Pollstar. “The exciting part is that as performers, song writers and producers they have yet to scratch the surface of their ability as musicians. As cliché as it sounds, the sky is truly the limit for them.”
Nathan Lim and Jake Udell of Th3rd Brain Management had plenty to say, too.
“It’s really incredible to see the evolution of music in 2014, particularly dance music,” Lim said. “People are gravitating toward dance stages at every festival because of its interactivity. They’re not observing a spectacle, they’re part of it.
“Krewella takes it one step further by bringing a very personal and energetic performance element. I think that’s part of the reason why they have such diehard fans: for once in their lives, they may feel like they are a part of something bigger.”
Krewella has a summer’s worth of shows ahead, playing from Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore to Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver, along with visits to festivals like Lollapalooza and Sunset Music Festival. The act just appeared on the main stage of Ultra Music Festival for the first time. It is also expected to return to the poolside party at Daylight Beach Club at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas June 22.
“We had a vision 18 months before our sold-out, nationwide 55-date tour,” Udell said. “We wanted to create a stage production that enabled Krewella to DJ and also to step down to the front of the stage and sing live. We knew that Krewella could be the rock stars of dance music so it was always our goal to bring the rock to the rave.”
