But those DIY days, coupled with years on the road and critically acclaimed albums such as last year’s Celebration Rock, helped shape Brian King on guitar and David Prowse on drums – with both sharing vocal duties – into a performance powerhouse.

“Japandroids is one of the strongest and most exciting live bands today,” The Windish Agency’s Ben Buchanan told Pollstar, explaining the duo’s brand of raw, energetic rock often leads to frenetic concerts.

“Each show seems to be crazier and rowdier,” he said. “I once saw a fan jump on stage and do a front flip into the crowd to body surf.”

Once fans hear the album and see Japandroids live, they “become huge Japandroids advocates, which has also helped to grow their audience exponentially,” he continued.

The band’s spent the better part of the past year hitting Canada, the U.S., U.K., Europe, Australia and Japan and this summer will be no different.

Upcoming dates for Japandroids include festival slots, clubs and theaters in the States, then a swing through Europe, Russia, Asia and Australia.

And because Japandroids has made it a mission to tour in front of as many fans, in as many markets as possible, South Africa and South America dates could be additional targets on the horizon.

“The band is very interested in playing interesting, unique and creative situations, and/or multiple nights in smaller rooms as well as larger venues,” Buchanan said. “It’s really something that’s exciting as a booking agent to work with an artist that’s hands-on and interested in the shows and rooms they play.”
