Miranda Cosgrove
Cosgrove got her start in the entertainment world after being discovered by a talent agent in a Los Angeles restaurant. Her first acting role was a 2001 guest-star spot on the pilot of “Smallville” as a 5-year-old Lana Lang, followed by her first film role alongside Jack Black in 2003’s “School of Rock.” Last year she lent her voice to the computer-animated 3D flick “Despicable Me.”
After starring on the Nickelodeon series “Drake & Josh” from 2004 to 2007 as Drake’s little sister Megan, Cosgrove landed her own series on the cable channel in 2007 in the title role of Carly Shay on “iCarly.”
Playing Carly has snagged her a spot on TV Guide’s 2010 list of TV’s top earners and also launched her singing career. Her first single was the “iCarly” theme song “Leave It All To Me.” The tune is included on the soundtrack to “iCarly,” which features four songs from Cosgrove.
She released her debut studio album Sparks Fly in 2010. Cosgrove is already promoting her upcoming EP, High Maintenance, which features her new single “Dancing Crazy” and a duet with Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo.
In January she kicked off her debut U.S. headlining trek, “Dancing Crazy Tour.”
Advanced Alternative Media’s Mark Beaven told Pollstar Cosgrove’s live show is “very compelling, very energetic. It’s something that she’s put a lot of time into. … She works so hard and is so committed to being great. She just pushes herself and pushes herself.”
Cosgrove returns to the TV studio in April to start filming the fifth season of “iCarly.” A summer tour is in the works.
