Pukkelpoppers Get Online

Pukkelpop continues its recovery from the disaster of 2011, when five people were killed as a freak storm hit the site, selling half of its 57,000 combination tickets within a couple of days.

“The Thursday tickets are going fast, too,” said festival chief Chokri Mahassine.
“Our online sales have never gone so smoothly as they do now. It’s always a nail-biting moment when you’re suddenly at the mercy of modern technology. Other than one minor incident where a hundred people received a ticket that didn’t have a barcode, it went fine.

“You could call it the Eminem effect,” he continued. “We expected that. Just like we had with Foo Fighters last year, people have emotional ties to Eminem. And the fact that he’s only playing two shows on the European continent this summer makes his visit to Pukkelpop a highly exclusive privilege.”

A combination ticket costs euro 165 (excluding euro 5 service charges and euro 1 mobility contribution) but it does include camping at one of three sites at Kiewit.

There are also 9,000 day tickets for each of the three days. A day ticket costs euro 83 (excluding euro 5 service charges and euro 1 mobility contribution) but it also includes two nights of camping.

The rest of the Pukkelpop bill (August 15-17) includes Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, Franz Ferdinand, Deftones, Alabama Shakes, Fall Out Boy, and Slayer.
