Montreux Jazz Founder Dies
Montreux Jazz Festival founder Claude Nobs has died, days after being injured in a skiing accident.
The 76-year-old suffered a fall while practicing his cross-country skiing Dec. 24.
He had been in a coma in hospital since the accident but passed away Jan. 10.
“Despite the tremendous efforts of the medical staff at they Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois in Lausanne, he died peacefully, surrounded by family and close friends,” said a note on the Montreux Jazz website.
Organisers had previously said Nobs’ accident would not impact this year’s festival, which runs July 5-20.
