Bloc In Administration
Bloc Festival has put itself into administration three days after its London debut was canceled on the opening day, with police called in to help evacuate the crowded Docklands site.
“It is with great sadness that we announce Baselogic Productions (who you all know as Bloc) has been placed into administration following the events of Friday evening,” said a note posted on the company website July 10.
Various postings on social network sites suggest the main problem was that site infrastructure at the Pleasure Gardens in the Royal Victoria Docks wasn’t suitable for the number of festivalgoers wanting to see main stage headliners such as Snoop Dogg.
Immediately after the festival, the Metropolitan Police put out a statement that public safety was compromised by the weather conditions rather than any over-selling of tickets.
A spokesman confirmed there were no injuries or fatalities reported at the site, contrary to rumours on Twitter.
The two-day electronic music festival in London was called off by organisers after huge queues of people tried to get into the event.
Headliner Snoop Dogg didn’t get to play and the second day, which would have featured Orbital and Gary Numan, was scrapped.
Bloc started at Pontins Holiday Camp in Hemsby in 2007 with a capacity of 2,200. Two years later it moved to a 6,400-capacity site at Butlins Holiday Camp in Minehead, where the annual electro fest remained until this year.
