International Names For Big Sound

The first round of overseas speakers for Big Sound conference and showcase included Ben Swank, MD of Jack White’s Third Man Records, as well as Spotify’s Rene Chambers and CMJ editor Lisa Hresko.

Others include European promoter Heart of Gold’s David Jimenez-Zumalacarregui, C3 Presents’ Aly Ehlinger, UK based independents’ lobby group Merlin’s Charles Caldas and Grouplove managers Nicky & Ben Berger.
Big Sound is held in Brisbane Sept. 12-14.

Keynote speakers are performers Ben Lee and David Bridie, and EMI Music Australia’s chairman Mark Poston.

Local speakers announced were promoters Jessica Ducrou of Village Sounds and Richard Moffat of Way Over There, along with Powderfinger guitarist Ian Haug and Nick Findlay of radio network triple j.
