The Eagles flew into some rough weather when the venue for their first ever show in the United Arab Emirates was hit by a sandstorm April 12.
On show day the wind whipped up the desert around Dubai’s 7he Sevens Stadium and by lunchtime it had “ravaged” the site, according to organizers, blowing the roof off the clubhouse of a nearby cricket ground.
Thomas Ovesen of show promoter Done Events says it knocked down most of the outdoor venue’s installations except the stage structure, leaving his team only a few hours to for repairs in time to open the doors at 6:30 p.m.
“It seriously threatened the chances of the show taking place,” Ovesen explained.
Apparently everything ran on time with the band taking the stage before a 20,000-capacity crowd at 9:30 p.m.
