Copenhell Gets Hotter
Live Nation’s 3-year-old Copenhell Festival in Denmark may be quick to establish itself in the heavy metal pantheon if tickets continue to sell at the current rate.
Last year’s event on the 10,000-capacity industrial works site on Copenhagen’s Refshale Island did 7,000 per day, and this year ticket sales are already halfway to that figure – three months sooner than it took to reach the same point in 2011.
“The daily papers are now reporting each time we add an act and the rock papers and websites are calling us every week,” explained LN promoter Jeppe Nissen.
Nissen feels the company’s decision to spend more money to get bigger names has come at the right time, and may accelerate Copenhell’s progress to a bigger league.
The June 16-18 lineup includes Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Killswitch Engage, Immortal, Lamb Of God, Anthrax and Trivium.
