Mary Yandall Dies
Mary Yandall of the vocal trio The Yandall Sisters, died at 62 in Auckland after a short illness.
Born Anna Yandall to Samoan parents, she and sisters Pauline and Adele began singing at church.
In the ’70s they started releasing singles, the biggest, “Sweet Inspiration” in 1974 stayed in the Top 20 for eight weeks.
The sisters backed major local entertainers on record and onstage, and were considered role models for young Samoans in New Zealand.
