Roses Head For Benicassim

Agent Charlie Myatt is keeping his cards close to his chest but the European tour for the reunited The Stone Roses is shaping up with headline slots at Spain’s Benicassim Festival and Scotland’s T In The Park.

“I cannot tell you more at the moment,” the 13 Artists chief told Pollstar, as the dates were added to the act’s three sold-out shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park in the UK June 29-30 and July 1.

The first two Manchester dates sold out in 14 minutes, making it one of the fastest selling rock concerts the UK has ever seen.

While the rest of the tour sheet is a matter of conjecture, any added dates will likely fall between the Manchester shows and the beginning of August.

T In The Park is July 6-8, Benicassim is July 12-15, and at the end of the month the act is off to Japan for the Fuji Rocks Festival.

According to the UK’s The Sun, which has been running stories on a Roses’ reunion for more than six months, the band is also set to headline the UK’s V Festivals Aug. 18-19.

“I’ve had a long history with the Stone Roses since they formed and I’m really looking forward to having them back at FIB [Benicassim] to watch, no doubt an incredible performance,” said Vince Power of Music Festivals, whose publicly listed company now owns the Spanish festival.

This summer, Benicassim recovered from a downturn in 2010 and has already sold out 2012 early-bird tickets that went on sale mid-July.

Some of the festival’s live performances will be screened on MTV World Stage, the first time this has happened with a Spanish outdoor.

On Oct. 14, the satellite station showed “the best moments” of last year’s sets from Arcade Fire and Arctic Monkeys.
World Stage broadcasts in MTV channels all over the world, excluding the U.S. and Canada, reaching 500 million homes in 62 countries including the UK, France, Italy, Australia, Brazil and India.
