Honda Center Spruces Up

The 19,400-capacity Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. – home to the NHL’s Ducks and a potential home for the Sacramento Kings – is expected to begin this fall the most expansive reconstruction in its 19-year history.

The project is funded by Ducks owner Henry Samueli and is considered to be in the tens of millions of dollars; no exact figures have been disclosed.

The renovation comes on the heels of a $25 million bond measure passed by taxpayers a few months ago, but that was upon the contingency that the NBA’s Kings would move to the facility. Instead, Kings owners the Maloof family have decided to let Sacramento take one more crack at getting the team an upgraded arena before considering a move.

Still, Honda Center opearator Anaheim Arena Management claims the upgrades will make the venue “NBA ready.” Improvements include a 12,000-square foot Grand Terrace, an exclusive indoor/outdoor entertainment space located on the premium level that will include an 80-foot bar. Approximately 80 percent of annual memberships for the level have already been purchased through pre-sale, according to Anaheim Arena Management.

The main level will include a 250-seat full service restaurant and improvements will be made to all 84 luxury boxes. The merch store will be expanded from 1,800 square feet to 4,200.

A two-year makeover of the venue’s F&B services is already under way.

More specific timelines are to be announced, according to a statement.
