Banton Wants Shorter Sentence
The reggae star faces a mandatory 15 years in prison at his sentence hearing June 23 in Tampa federal court. David Markus, Banton’s attorney, filed court documents June 9 saying the lengthy sentence his client faces is “way more than necessary.”
Marcus reportedly cited Banton’s limited participation in the drug deal, his charitable work in Jamaica and his previously clean record as reasons for a reduced sentence.
