Melted In No Time
At the beginning of the year it was named artists’ favourite festival at the European Festival Awards, but Germany’s Melt Festival is also something of a favourite with fans.
The 20,000-capacity event on an old open-face coal mine at Graefenhainichen, a winner of various German Live Entertainment Awards, has sold out in record time.
The 15-year-old festival, which moved from Mecklenburg to the Ferropolis site at Graefenhainichen in 1999, first sold out in 2008.
On that occasion the last few tickets were sold at the door but in 2009 it sold out a week in advance. Last year it sold out two weeks in advance and this year all the tickets have been sold with six weeks to go.
This year’s Melt July 15-17 has Beady Eye, Pulp, Robyn, White Lies, Boys Noize, Calvin Harris, Chase & Status, Crystal Fighters, Everything Everything, and The Streets.
