MTV Gets Amnesia in Ibiza

MTV is teaming with Ibiza’s Amnesia nightclub to produce a new live music event that will later be packaged and aired in the UK and on the MTV Dance channel.

The 10 shows under the “I Want My MTV Ibiza” banner begin July 1 and feature such acts as Duran Duran, 2manydjs, Mark Ronson and Richie Hawtin. More names are expected over the next two weeks.

The headline sets will be aired in the form of two one-hour specials on MTV UK’s premier music channel and MTV DANCE. They’ll incorporate the live performances, artist interviews and exclusive backstage footage.

The project runs on from MTV Crashes Glasgow and MTV Presents Belfast, two similarly themed events the entertainment network ran in 2010.

Amnesia is one of Ibiza’s best known and most successful club venues, attracting between 4,000 and 6,000 people every night.
