Lieberberg Gets Jury Award
The jury that picks who wins the German Live Entertainment Awards has awarded its own special prize to promoter Marek Lieberberg.
The citation said the Jury Prize, the only award to be announced prior to the annual LEA bash, was for the standard of safety at his Rock Am Ring Festival.
It features a traffic management system for fans and crowd control barriers that enable optimum monitoring of the critical area in front of the main stage.
The 10 judges said the award also underlines the commitment of the German event industry to maintaining the very highest safety standards and levels of responsibility.
The remaining LEA winners will be announced at the LEA ceremony at Frankfurt Festival Hall April 5, where Mayor Petra Roth will also present the Frankfurt Music Prize.
This year’s LEA nominations, which were announced March 10, may well see other promoters from CTS Eventim’s Medusa Group among the prizes.
Dieter Semmelmann’s Semmel Concerts has chances of winning the award for best arena show with either The Scorpions’ tour or Helene Fischer’s “So wie ich bin” (“Just as I am”) tour, but fellow Medusa promoter Peter Rieger is up for the same prize with the Peter Gabriel tour he co-promoted with Karsten Jahnke.
The other two nominees are the Arcade Fire tour promoted by MCT and Buback Tonträger’s Jan Delay dates.
Folkert Koopmans’ FKP Scorpio may take another gong for Medusa as his Chiemsee Reggae is has been nominated for the LEA Festival of the Year award.
