Sky High Ticket Sales

Germany-based Kick Media is working with Air Berlin to sell music and concert tickets on the airline’s 167 planes.

They’ve formed a joint-venture called Follow Me, which kicked off two weeks ago with a promotion for classical crossover group Appassionante.

Air Berlin chief exec Joachim Hunold says the company has been paying out a lot of money to license films and music for the planes’ audio and video equipment, and the tie-up with Kick Media will enable it to produce content where the airline will own the rights.

He said Air Berlin will generate additional revenue with further distribution channels, marketing Follow Me via the company’s website – with its 6 million visits per month – and the 4 million who read its in-flight magazine.
